Multiple library search tools include items in our physical collections. When those items show "UMKC Robot Storage" as their location you can request them in the online system, then collect them at a library service desk.

Request Robot items using Library Search

When you find a book using the Library Search box on the library homepage, some items will show "UMKC Robot Storage" under Location. Click the Place request button to notify library staff to retrieve the item from the Robot.

Request Robot items using the Library Catalog

When you find a book using the Library Catalog, some items will be listed as "UMKC Robot Storage." Use the Place Request link to request that specific copy.

Pick up an item

  • Library staff will have your Robot items ready and waiting for you at the first floor Service Desk at Miller Nichols Library within about 15 minutes during normal business hours. Requests received when the library is closed will be ready the next morning.
  • If your home location is set for another University of Missouri Library, items from the Robot will be delivered to your location when you use the Place Request button.
