Frequently Asked Questions

How do I save, share, or bookmark a link to a library resource?

Locate a permanent link to save or share. Permanent links (also called permalinks or stable URLs) do not include session information and won't time out, so they will work for you when you return to your saved link, or if you share them with other UMKC library users. Links to library resources must also include authentication information in the URL to work when you revisit them. Permanent links provided in many of our library databases automatically include authentication information. Find a permalink for items in these locations:

  • Results from the UMKC Library Catalog + Search (Ebsco Discovery Services): Copy the URL in the address bar
  • EBSCO databases: Copy the URL in the address bar or locate the the "Share" button and select “Create link”
  • Ebook Central (from ProQuest): Copy from the “Share Link to Book” button or the link icon in the top menu when Reading Online
  • Gale: Look for Get Link in the menu on the top right
  • JSTOR: Copy the URL with "stable" in it from below the item's title and other citation information. Add the library's authentication information to the URL to ensure it recognizes you as a UMKC user when you revisit it.
  • Ovid: Click the "Email Jumpstart" button, and a new browser tab will open with a link to copy
  • ProQuest databases: Copy the "Document URL" under the "Abstract/Details" tab
